So this might not be an actual pose, but it’s something that’s pretty hard to do! It requires a lot of strength in your core and arms and some flexibility. I always cue to step your foot in between your hands, but never give a detailed explanation on how to get it there so here it is!
Step Foot Through from Down Dog
- From your down dog, lift your right leg back. Keep your hips neutral by turning your right inner thigh towards the ceiling
- Lean forward so your shoulders stack over your wrists to come into a one-legged plank. Come to the ball of your left foot and engage both your quads.
- Bring your right knee toward your chest and point your toes. Try to reach your heel to your glutes
- Round your back similar to “cat pose’ by pushing the ground away with your hands and lifting your hips high. Bring your belly button towards your spine and knit your ribs together.
- Step foot through in between your hands.
Tips
- Place your hands on blocks to get more of a lift
- Slightly lift your right hand to step your foot all the way through
- Use your right hand to pick up your right ankle to step through
